The Maintenance worker will support the ministries of the Church by keeping the buildings and grounds safe, neat, functional and attractive. Under the supervision of the Business Manager, works in cooperation with the entire parish staff and as member of the team responsible for the safety, cleanliness, and efficient operation of the buildings and grounds.
The Maintenance worker will ensure that all publicly accessible areas of the church are clean and ready for other staff members and the congregation to use and will oversee facility maintenance of the church, sacristy, hall, school building, office building, la casita, and Rectory.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sweep and mop floors.
Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning surfaces.
Clean and disinfect public and staff restrooms with mops and disinfectants.
Vacuum and when needed
Use cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces.
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
Dust furniture and scrub surfaces clean.
Move heavy equipment and furniture.
Work with other maintenance team members and church staff to ensure that all areas are cleaned and stocked with necessary items.
Perform maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, light plumbing, and restocking bathrooms, and other repairs.
Assist with event preparations and clean up.
Take inventory of cleaners and other supplies and submit requests when items need to be replenished.
Interact with church staff and visitors in a respectful, positive manner.
In charge of the parish security on weekends, holidays and special events as needed.
Assist priest in preparing sacristy for memorial masses, funerals, special celebrations, and as needed during weekend masses.
Skills: Custodial/ Janitorial/ Maintenance experience. Have knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety procedures, ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pass a background check, possess strong communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills. Have the flexibility to adjust their schedule to suit the needs of the church and motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services to the church. Work schedule may require to work weekends and outside of regular business hours.
When providing services to bi-lingual or Spanish speaking parishioners, ability to effectively communicate in the second language and clearly write comprehensive English only notes.
